Requirements for Middle School Students
Enrolled in Geometry
Your child is enrolled in Geometry at the middle school. In order for your child to demonstrate success in this advanced course of study in math this school year, your child must meet the following criteria:
• All students enrolled in Geometry must demonstrate excellent work habits,
behavior and attendance.
• All students enrolled in Geometry must earn a minimum 4-quarter grade point average of 3.00 in Geometry in order to be promoted to Algebra 2/Trig (acc) next year. Students who earn less than a 3.00 GPA in Geometry this year will repeat Geometry again next year.
Exceptions:
(1) Students who earn a 2.75 GPA in Geometry (3 “Bs” and 1 “C”), with the “C”
occurring in the either the first or second quarter, will be promoted to Algebra 2/
Trig (acc) next year.
(2) Students who earn a 2.50 or 2.75 GPA in Geometry AND who earn at least 80% on both of the end-of-semester final exams, will be promoted to Algebra 2/ Trig (acc) next year.
Your child’s math teacher will contact you if your child is performing below the grade standards listed above.
