HOW TO SUCCEED IN MR. ERICKSON’S ALGEBRA 1A CLASS

  OUR TEXTBOOK

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS (HOMEWORK):

Homework is given daily and is corrected in class the next day. Students are responsible for completing all work as assigned. Students will be given time in class to ask questions and begin each assignment. To keep informed on daily homework and other assignments please use my website mathwise.net

TESTS / QUIZZES:

Tests and quizzes are given on the last day of the week. (Usually Fridays) Missed exams must be made up the following week. Students are responsible to make arrangement with me to make up the test. Students talking or cheating during a test may receive a "zero". Bring a book to read on the day of a test in case you finish early.

NOTEBOOK:

Keep this hand out in your notebook! Each student will keep a separate division in their Niguel Hills notebook. Keep the most recent work on top. Do not throw anything away!

MATERIALS:

Students will need a covered textbook; #2 pencils, protractor, compass, paper and a ruler marked in both metric and standard U. S. units.

GRADING:

Grades are especially important for high school math placement recommendations. Please make your best effort each quarter! Grades will be based on a percentage of the total points.

                          90% - 100% A

                          80% -  89% B

                          70% -  79% C

                          60% -  69% D

                          below  60% F

CITIZENSHIP:

An "S" citizenship grade is earned by participating in classroom discussions, keeping a quiet learning atmosphere in the classroom, bringing all classroom materials daily, doing homework, and regular and punctual attendance. An "O" citizenship grade is earned by doing all of the above plus demonstrating consistent leadership and always presenting a positive roll model image for other Niguel Hills students.

ABSENCES:

It is difficult to make up for missed classroom time. It is the student’s responsibility to make up work missed due to absence. In case of an excused absence, the missed work may be made up in a timely manner. It is the student's responsibility to find out what assignments have been missed. Tests are expected to make up the test the day he\she returns to school.

TARDIES:

You are tardy if you are not in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.

HALL PASSES:

Hall passes are for emergencies only!

EXTRA CREDIT:

There will be many opportunities for extra credit during each quarter.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS:

When I am absent, the substitute teacher is to be treated with respect. Any names brought to my attention may be given detention and\or a phone call home.
